Hyderabad-based healthcare NGO Helping Hand Foundation (HHF) has introduced an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered health application to strengthen primary healthcare delivery in urban slums.
The initiative is in collaboration with MIDOC, a US-based startup that developed the AI-driven health app.
Under a formal partnership, HHF will deploy the app across its 12 community healthcare centers, which collectively served over 5.56 lakh patients in 2024.
The app’s initial rollout is part of a pilot program at five key centers located in Rajendra Nagar, Shaheen Nagar, Ghouse Nagar, and Hasan Nagar.
The deployment follows comprehensive orientation and training sessions for doctors at these centers to ensure smooth integration into existing healthcare services.
The AI-based tool is designed to improve preventive healthcare by actively monitoring key health metrics and generating alerts for abnormalities.
This enables physicians to intervene early and manage patient health more proactively.
A standout feature of the app is the creation of a centralized health profile, consolidating medical records for all family members in one location.
“This feature allows seamless updates of new reports, real-time alerts for patients, and a more structured approach to healthcare management,” explained Mujtaba Hasan Askari of HHF.
In terms of curative care, the app functions as an AI-powered assistant for doctors, generating automated prescriptions from patient-doctor conversations, thus reducing manual paperwork.
It also offers interactive suggestions related to prescribed medications and summarizes complex medical reports, facilitating quicker clinical decisions.
Another key feature of the app is its AI-powered follow-up mechanism, which issues alerts based on treatment timelines and patient progress.
Patients receive personalized notifications for upcoming appointments, medication schedules, and routine health check-ups.
The app also supports telemedicine consultations, virtual follow-ups, and real-time AI chat assistance for medical queries.
For patients, the app simplifies the management of medical records, prescriptions, and lab results through smart categorization and easy uploads.
It also enables integration with specialists and healthcare facilities for more targeted care. Interactive visual analytics provide an AI-based health overview, helping patients and families track health trends and improvements over time.
“Bringing AI into the primary healthcare ecosystem will enhance patient experience and trust while empowering our physicians to provide more holistic care,” said Askari.
