Granules India Joint MD & CEO K VS Rao Steps Down

Rao had been a senior leader with Granules India, overseeing operations and steering the company’s growth strategies.

Hyderabad-based pharmaceutical company Granules India, has recently announced the resignation of Kandiraju Venkata Sitaram Rao from the position of Joint Managing Director and CEO of the company citing personal reasons.

His resignation shall be effective from the close of business hours on July 31, 2025, upon which he will also cease to be the key Managerial Personnel (KMP) of the company.

According to the company’s filing on the BSE, “Dr. Kandiraju Venkata Sitaram Rao shall cease to be the joint Managing Director & CEO of the company upon his resignation from the position. He shall also cease to be the key Managerial Personnel (KMP) of the company. His resignation shall be effective from the closure of business hours on July 31, 2025.”

K VS Ram Rao joined Granules in 2022. Prior to granules, he worked as Executive Director & CEO for CSM Business of PI Industries Limited. He played a significant role in Reddy’s Jubilant Life Sciences and Gujarat Heavy Chemicals Ltd.

He is well known for his leadership capability in making high-stakes decisions and overcoming complex business challenges. He is also an expert at articulating and implementing change while gaining consensus from people with different agendas.

During his tenure, Rao established innovative business models, instituted good manufacturing and R&D systems, and built best-in-class practices in environment, health, and safety.

Holding a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Osmania University, Hyderabad, Rao also holds a master’s degree & Ph.D in chemical engineering from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

In a similar development , Granules recently acquired Swiss CDMO Senn Chemicals AG to enter the peptide therapeutics space, expanding its portfolio to include high-value APIs such as GLP‑1 receptor agonists for diabetes and obesity.
