Fitbit Labs Launches New AI Features to Enhance the Health Data

These fresh AI features are available only to the signed up labs users, turning their fitness tracker into a smarter health companion.

Fitbit Labs, a brainchild of tech giant Google, has recently announced three new AI features for its users.

These Google Gemini AI-powered features help users better understand their health and gain personalized insights.

Google has clarified that these tools are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate, or prevent any medical condition. Instead, they are part of ongoing research efforts to explore potential future health-related functionalities.

Fitbit Unveils 3 Gemini-powered Tools

The first tool is Medical Record Navigator. This Gemini-powered tool aims to simplify lab reports and turn them into easy-to-understand health summaries.

This tool allows users to upload lab reports to the Fitbit app securely. Gemini then generates easy-to-understand health summaries from the data.

Users who have opted into Fitbit Labs can securely upload their latest lab results to the Fitbit app. Gemini will break down the information into plain language and offer educational context to help users understand what it all means.

Also on the way is Symptom Checker, which, as the name suggests, helps users figure out why they might be feeling off. The user can describe symptoms, and the tool will ask follow-up questions to help narrow down possible explanations.

It is not meant to replace medical advice but may help users communicate more effectively with healthcare providers.

The other upcoming AI feature is called Unusual Trends. This tool looks for subtle changes in the user’s health data, things one might not notice on their own, such as shifts in the sleep breathing rate, heart rate variability, or resting heart rate.

These tools are limited to users who have opted into the experimental program. Additionally, the goal is to refine these features based on user feedback and evolving research in digital health.

Fitbit Labs, launched in late 2024 after Fitbit became part of Google, is an experimental platform within the Fitbit app. It lets select users try out new AI-powered health features, using Google’s Gemini AI, and provide feedback before these tools are widely released.
