The programs falls under PM National Dialysis Program and PPP dialysis project by the Delhi government, aiming to provide free kidney care ot BPL patients
The Delhi government has installed 300 dialysis machines across 16 government hospitals under the Prime Minister National Dialysis Programme (PMNDP) and the state’s Public-Private Partnership (PPP) dialysis project.
As per reports, 150 out of these 300 machines were already operational under the PMNDP in 10 hospitals and 150 new machines have been added to six more hospitals, expanding dialysis access in the city.
The newly installed machines are equipped with automated disinfection systems, real-time monitoring capabilities, and safety mechanisms such as ultrasonic air bubble detectors and photoelectric blood leak sensors.
Under the PMNDP, dialysis services are provided free to Below Poverty Line (BPL) cardholders and beneficiaries with annual income below one lakh rupees.
For the PPP model hospitals, residents who have lived in Delhi for at least three years and have valid identification and an annual income below 3 lakh will also receive the service free of charge.
Health Minister Pankaj Singh said, "This is a significant milestone in our journey to build a healthier Delhi. Dialysis is a life - saving service and every person in need must have access to it, regardless of their financial status.”
To ensure the quality treatment, the government is deploying radiologists, trained technicians and support staff in all dialysis centres with an aim to build an inclusive, accessible and future-ready health system in Delhi.
Hospitals currently offering dialysis services include Lok Nayak Hospital, Rajiv Gandhi Super speciality Hospital and Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital while, Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital, Janakpuri Super Speciality Hospital and Burari Hospital are the new additions.
