CoverSure launches Policy Health Check Platform to Assess Health Insurance Coverage Gaps
The platform is designed to identify coverage gaps before renewals or critical decision points, when most policies are typically revisited.
CoverSure, a consumer-first InsurTech platform, has launched Policy Health Check, a health insurance assessment platform aimed at helping policyholders evaluate whether their existing coverage aligns with their current healthcare and lifestyle needs.
The platform is designed to identify coverage gaps before renewals or critical decision points, when most policies are typically revisited.
Policy Health Check reviews health insurance policies across more than 30 coverage parameters, including benefits, exclusions, limits, and add-ons. The assessment is supported by consultations with IRDA-certified insurance experts, allowing users to better understand their current policy structure and available options ahead of renewal. Based on the review, users receive inputs on whether to continue with their existing policy, modify coverage, or consider porting to another insurer.
The launch addresses a common trend in India’s health insurance market, where a large share of policyholders renew policies annually without reassessing whether coverage remains adequate. Changes in healthcare costs, medical history, family composition, and treatment requirements often go unaccounted for, resulting in underinsurance that becomes evident only during claims.
According to IRDAI data, nearly 573 million people in India are covered under some form of health insurance. However, a CoverSure survey indicates that a significant proportion of policyholders are either under-insured or uncertain about the adequacy of their coverage. Many continue with the same policy for years without reviewing benefits, despite rising medical inflation and evolving healthcare needs.
Policy Health Check is built on an analysis of over 1,500 health insurance policies from more than 60 insurers. The platform evaluates key aspects of an individual’s policy and flags areas where coverage may no longer be sufficient, helping users address gaps before a medical emergency arises. The tool is positioned for both first-time buyers and long-term policyholders seeking a structured review ahead of renewal.
Commenting on the launch, Saurabh Vijayvergia, Founder and CEO, CoverSure, said, “The primary hurdle in health insurance lies in the fact that insurance lies dormant most of the time—only to be revisited at renewals and claims. This neglect leads to financial vulnerabilities during claim scenarios, as insurance is not an evergreen product and needs to evolve with life changes.”
The platform seeks to shift policyholder behaviour from passive renewals to proactive coverage assessment, enabling more informed and timely insurance decisions.
