BPCL & IIT Madras Launch YANTRAS Center to Advance Robotic-Assisted Surgery Innovation

The center will focus on advancing indigenous innovation in robotic-assisted surgeries while strengthening research and development in next-generation medical technologies.

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) to establish the Center for Next-Gen Technologies for Robotic-Assisted Surgeries, named YANTRAS, at IIT Madras.

The center will focus on advancing indigenous innovation in robotic-assisted surgeries while strengthening research and development in next-generation medical technologies.

The initiative will also extend support for startup incubation and entrepreneurship in healthcare technology.

In addition, the center is intended to provide specialised training and skill development for robotic-assisted surgeries while promoting global collaborations in medical innovation.

Furthermore, the collaboration seeks to improve healthcare outcomes, reduce dependence on imported medical technologies, and encourage the development of indigenous patents and innovations in the healthcare sector.

The centre is also expected to create new opportunities for researchers and innovators working in advanced medical technologies and robotic healthcare systems.

The partnership initiative launched during a recent event was attended by the Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, and Minister of State for Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary.
