Uttar Pradesh to Launch Mega Pharma Park by 2027

With over 350 acres under development in phase one, the project is poised to attract investments exceeding INR 12,000 Cr.

Uttar Pradesh’s much-awaited pharma park is all set to be executed by 2027 as the state government starts work on North India's first bulk drug and formulation hub in Lalitpur in Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh.

Spanning 1,472 acres, the Lalitpur Pharma Park is being developed in multiple phases. According to Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA), environmental approvals are in place, and land allotment to industries has already commenced.

With construction underway on over 350 acres in the first phase, the project is expected to catalyze investments worth over INR 12,000. The move aligns withUP’s bid to become a national pharmaceutical manufacturing powerhouse.

Sandeep Kumar, regional manager, UPSIDA, confirmed that four pharmaceutical companies have submitted applications to set up units within the park.

Among the companies, IJ Pharma and Badariya Pharma have already been allotted plots, while Riddhi Siddhi Pharma and JBJM Pharmaceuticals are in the final stages of the allotment process. “Contracts with two companies are complete, while documentation for the remaining two is ongoing," Kumar said.

The project has attracted major investors, with several pharma firms signing proposals at a recent Ahmedabad roadshow. UPSIDA plans to reach out to Mumbai, Chandigarh, and Hyderabad to draw more industry players.

The park benefits from excellent multimodal connectivity linked via MDR 35B, with NH-44 and NH-539 nearby. There is also a railway connection through Tikamgarh and Lalitpur Junction. Air connectivity is facilitated via Khajuraho Airport (125 km away) and Lucknow Airport (385 km away).

The proximity to the Jhansi node of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor adds strategic value, as does its alignment with the state’s broader goal of becoming a $1 trillion economy.
