STPI Sets Up a MedTech Center to Support Healthtech Startups

The center is envisioned to support healthtech startups in developing cost-effective solutions, including AI-powered diagnostics,non-invasive medical devices, telemedicine, and emergency healthcare solutions.

The Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) has established a MedTech Centre of Entrepreneurship (CoE) to support home-grown startups and address critical medical challenges.

MedTech CoE delivers a comprehensive environment that includes advanced IoT and Medi labs, dedicated clinical mentorship, business guidance, regulatory assistance, and access to investors and funding schemes.

The center is envisioned to support healthtech startups in developing cost-effective solutions, including AI-powered diagnostics, non-invasive medical devices, telemedicine, and emergency healthcare solutions.

STPI MedTech CoE has onboarded 53 startups, 10 of which have secured external funding amounting to INR 3.38 Cr. These startups are developing cost-effective, Indigenous solutions suited to rural requirements.

Startups Fostered by MedTech CoE

MedTech CoE has fostered some startups that are actively working on AI-driven diagnostics and medical training for emergency healthcare and assistive medical devices.

One of those is Arficus that has developed MEDHINI, the world’s first generative AI-based Software as a Medical Device (SaMD), which is already serving over 267 B2B clients across 12+ countries.

Similarly, Dectrocel Healthcare has introduced an affordable AI-powered pulmonary disease detection system, making specialised diagnostics available at a very nominal price.

Under the medical training and mental healthcare CoE has also included ONELearningEdusphere that created India’s first simulation-based healthcare training platform, training over 5,000 professionals across India.

Additionally, adding to the list is Manodayam, a startup that has pioneered an AI-powered acoustic-based detection system identifying conditions across the mental health spectrum, such as depression, panic, stress, PSTD etc.

Under the emergency healthcare and assistive medical solutions, MedTech CoE has included MedCab Care, a real-time ambulance booking platform that integrates air ambulance services across India.

While Flexi Innovation as worked towards a Hybrid Assistive Chair for rehabilitation, incorporating virtual reality and gamification for better patient engagement.

With this step, MedTech CoE is helping to develop advanced healthcare low-cost solutions to serve the country's needs. These efforts, along with strong government support, are pushing India towards becoming Atmanirbhar in the MedTech sector and helping to realise the vision of a Viksit Bharat.
