SS Innovations International has announced the successful completion of a robotic cardiac telesurgery performed between Guyana and India.

According to the company, the procedure was performed by SS Innovations Chairman and CEO Dr Sudhir Srivastava, who operated remotely from Georgetown, Guyana, while the patient was located in Indore, India.

The surgery spanned approximately 12,500 miles (20,000 kilometres) of fibre-network distance using the SSi Mantra surgical robotic system, which the company stated is the world’s longest-distance robotic telesurgery performed to date.

Before this initiative, the longest-distance robotic telesurgery spanned from Strasbourg, France, to Indore, India, with a communication line distance of approximately 6,250 miles (10,000 kilometers) utilising the SSi Mantra.

Commenting on the latest development, SS Innovations CEO Sudhir Srivastava said, "The successful completion of this intercontinental cardiac telesurgery between Guyana and India, at a world-record distance of 12,500 miles, marks a historic milestone for SS Innovations and our SSi Mantra surgical robotic system. With each new remote procedure, we continue to push the boundaries of telesurgery and move closer to democratizing access to world-class surgical expertise globally.”

The procedure involved a left internal mammary artery takedown, a component of cardiac surgery.

Dr Srivastava utilized the company's SSi MantrAsana tele-surgeon console, while a team of bedside surgeons in India assisted during the operation. According to SS Innovations, the procedure was completed with network latency ranging between 290 and 300 milliseconds, enabling real-time communication and surgical control across continents.

The company stated that the telesurgery was performed using the SSi Mantra robotic platform and the compact SSi MantrAsana console, which was developed to facilitate remote surgical procedures through high-definition visualization, low-latency connectivity, and remote instrument control.

The company reported that till today more than 170 telesurgeries have been performed using the SSi Mantra platform to date, including cardiac, gastrointestinal, urological, gynaecological, oncology, and pediatric procedures.

The company stated its surgical robotic system currently holds regulatory approvals in 12 countries.

The new development follows another recent long-distance telesurgery completed by SS Innovations in May 2026, when a surgeon in Perth, Australia, remotely performed a robotic gastrojejunostomy on a patient in India across a distance of more than 10000 Kilo meters.
