Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria has urged hospitals to adopt digital healthcare technologies, saying digital transformation is essential to delivering accessible, affordable and high-quality healthcare while improving patient care, transparency and operational efficiency.
"Digital transformation is the future of healthcare," he said, adding that digitisation is the way forward for delivering quality, affordable and accessible healthcare to every citizen.
The call came during an online workshop titled "Digital Health – Now a Necessity, from Awareness to Accessible Affordable Implementation", organised by the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Chandigarh.
The discussions focused on implementing key digital healthcare solutions, including HMIS, electronic medical records, NABH Digital Health Standards and the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.
Participants explored how these technologies can help healthcare organisations streamline workflows, improve data management, reduce administrative burden and support more coordinated patient care.
IMA National President Anil Kumar J. Nayak reaffirmed the association's commitment to supporting healthcare delivery and urged healthcare providers to align with national digital health initiatives.
Nayak also urged hospitals, diagnostic centres and clinics to embrace digital health solutions in line with national healthcare initiatives.
Suman Singh, Director of Health Services, Chandigarh, highlighted the city's progress in digital healthcare implementation, noting that government hospitals have already adopted digital systems successfully.
She encouraged private hospitals and healthcare institutions to expedite the adoption of digital healthcare technologies to ensure seamless patient care across the city.
The event brought together hospital CEOs, medical superintendents, administrators and healthcare professionals to discuss practical strategies for implementing digital health technologies across healthcare institutions.
