PumasAI Backs India’s First Computational Lab to Accelerate AI-Driven Drug Development Research

Powered by a high-performance computing cluster, the Computational Lab for Quantitative Sciences will provide students, researchers, clinicians, and healthcare professionals with access to advanced computing resources.
US-based healthcare intelligence company PumasAI has collaborated with PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (PSGIMSR) and the Society of Pharmacometrics and Health Analytics Sciences (SOPHAS) to establish India's first Computational Lab for Quantitative Sciences in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
The facility is designed to advance AI in Drug Development by supporting research, education, and computational modelling across clinical pharmacology, pharmacometrics, and healthcare analytics.
Powered by a high-performance computing cluster, the Computational Lab for Quantitative Sciences will provide students, researchers, clinicians, and healthcare professionals with access to advanced computing resources.
The laboratory also aims to bridge academia and industry by enabling participants to engage in live research projects, collaborative scientific studies, and industry partnerships.
Researchers will gain practical exposure to quantitative modelling techniques and AI applications that are increasingly being integrated into modern pharmaceutical research and drug development.
The initiative further strengthens SOPHAS' AI in Drug Development educational program by providing dedicated computational infrastructure for advanced training and research.
By combining education with hands-on computational capabilities, the collaboration seeks to prepare a skilled workforce capable of supporting the growing demand for expertise in pharmacometrics, quantitative sciences, and AI-enabled healthcare innovation.

The Dr Ramalingam Sankaran Computational Lab for Quantitative Sciences was inaugurated by Sri L. Gopalakrishnan, Managing Trustee of PSG & Sons' Charities Trust, in the presence of leaders from PSGIMSR, SOPHAS, and PumasAI.
The partners expect the facility to contribute to India's expanding ecosystem for AI in Drug Development while supporting future research, innovation, and talent development.
