Dr. Sunil Kumar Barnwal, IAS, CEO of the National Health Authority (NHA), Government of India, met Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav at Lok Bhavan, Kohima, to discuss ways to strengthen the state’s digital healthcare ecosystem.
The meeting focused on accelerating the adoption of technology-driven healthcare initiatives across Nagaland.
Key discussions centred on leveraging digital health platforms and innovations to enhance service delivery, improve accessibility, and advance Nagaland’s wider healthcare transformation agenda.
Months back, the Government of Nagaland announced a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) bringing together the Nagaland GIS & Remote Sensing Centre (NGISRSC), under the Planning & Transformation Department, and the State Department of Health & Family Welfare (H&FW) to integrate drone technology into the healthcare service framework.
The initiative is intended to improve access to health services in emergencies by enabling the timely delivery of medical supplies, support during disease outbreaks and natural disasters, aerial assistance for vector control, and geospatial mapping to support planning and decision-making.
The new collaboration aims to harness unmanned aerial vehicles to mitigate these logistical barriers, particularly for emergency medical supply deliveries and response efforts during outbreaks or natural disasters.
