Ahmedabad’s Marengo CIMS Hospital has recently announced that an AI-powered remote patient monitoring system helped prevent 115 cardiac Code Blue emergencies, detect 836 cases of patient deterioration, and avoid 81 ICU transfers by continuously tracking high-risk patients through wearable biosensors.
An AI-powered remote patient monitoring system at Ahmedabad’s Marengo CIMS Hospital has helped prevent 115 cardiac Code Blue emergencies and identify 836 cases of patient deterioration over the past two and a half years, according to the hospital.
The wearable-based platform has monitored more than 6,551 high-risk patients by continuously tracking vital signs and alerting care teams when clinical risks are detected.
Dr. Raajiv Singhal, Managing Director and CEO of Marengo Asia Healthcare, said the platform combines continuous monitoring, risk stratification, AI-assisted documentation, and coordinated escalation protocols to support clinical decision-making.
According to Marengo CIMS Hospital, the AI-enabled platform continuously monitors heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, and other vital parameters through wearable biosensors.
When the system detects abnormal readings or signs of increasing clinical risk, alerts are sent simultaneously to the patient's smartphone, the treating doctor, and a dedicated 24x7 central monitoring command centre.
The hospital said the system has monitored more than 6,551 high-risk patients since its deployment, helping avoid 81 ICU transfers and facilitate three CPR interventions.
"Most serious cardiac emergencies do not occur suddenly. The human body gives subtle physiological signals hours or even days before a critical event," said Mayur Dave, Facility Director at Marengo CIMS Hospital.
The platform continues tracking patients after discharge, allowing clinicians to remotely monitor individuals with heart failure, reduced heart function, stroke risk, asthma, and other chronic conditions.
It continuously analyses patient data to generate early warning scores, clinical risk insights, and real-time summaries for treating physicians, while a dedicated clinical team reviews alerts and coordinates with doctors when intervention may be required.
"Marengo CIMS Hospitals has been using this AI-enabled biosensor technology for more than two and a half years for patients at high risk of cardiac and other life-threatening conditions," said Dr. Dhiren Shah, Director of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery and Heart Transplant Programme at Marengo CIMS Hospital.
According to the hospital, the technology has also helped reduce ICU stays and treatment costs by enabling earlier identification of patients at risk of clinical deterioration.
