The site will manufacture tubing using a variety of high-performance materials, widely used in the production of minimally invasive medical devices.

Lubrizol and Polyhose have launched a new advanced medical tubing facility in Chennai, designed to produce precision extruded tubing for minimally invasive cardiovascular and neurovascular devices while strengthening domestic and global supply chains.

Founded in 1928, Lubrizol, a Berkshire Hathaway company, is a science-based company whose speciality chemistry delivers sustainable solutions to advance mobility, improve well-being and enhance modern life with global reach and local presence. Polyhose is a Chennai-based global manufacturer of fluid conveyance systems, founded in 1996.

The companies said the facility has been designed to operate according to the same quality and compliance standards followed across Lubrizol’s global manufacturing network, providing customers with a dependable source of precision-engineered tubing.

Located in Chennai, the site will manufacture tubing using a variety of high-performance materials, including polyamides, nylon, Pebax, polypropylene, polyethylene, and Lubrizol’s medical-grade thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU).

These materials are widely used in the production of minimally invasive medical devices, where flexibility, durability, precision, and biocompatibility are critical requirements.

According to the companies, the facility also aligns with broader efforts to build a stronger domestic MedTech ecosystem.

Increasing local availability of specialized medical tubing could help reduce reliance on imports while supporting the development of advanced medical devices manufactured within India.
