Kauvery Hospitals has launched advanced Pulsed Field Ablation (PFA) technologies at its Chennai centres aimed at expanding treatment options for patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) and strengthening its cardiac electrophysiology services.

The initiative deploys two advanced PFA technologies, including the Medtronic PulseSelect and Biosense Webster Varipulse. The PFA is a next-generation treatment for heart rhythm disorders, particularly atrial fibrillation (AF).

The technology uses controlled electrical pulses to selectively eliminate abnormal heart tissue through a process known as electroporation, unlike conventional ablation methods that use heat or extreme cold.

The approach is expected to improve treatment outcomes of heart rhythm disorders while preserving surrounding tissue.

The Varipulse technology is integrated with an advanced 3D cardiac mapping system to support precision-guided procedures.

To support the programme's launch, electrophysiology specialists from the United States collaborated with the hospital's clinical teams during the initial procedures.

In addition to Pulsed Field Ablation, Kauvery Hospitals' Department of Cardiac Electrophysiology offers comprehensive heart rhythm care, including advanced diagnostic services, including electrocardiography (ECG), Holter monitoring, electrophysiology studies, specialised arrhythmia clinics, catheter ablation procedures, and cardiac device therapies such as pacemakers, implantable defibrillators, and cardiac resynchronisation therapy.

These services are supported by advanced 3D mapping technologies and multidisciplinary clinical teams.

The launch was attended by veteran cardiologist N. S. Sivakadaksham, who highlighted the potential of the technology to improve outcomes for patients with heart rhythm disorders.

Further, the event also saw the introduction of a new "Heart Rhythm Package" aimed at supporting early diagnosis and specialist evaluation of arrhythmia-related symptoms.

Commenting on the latest development, Dr Aravindan Selvaraj, Co-Founder and Executive Director, Kauvery Group of Hospitals, said, "At Kauvery Hospitals, we are committed to bringing proven, evidence-based innovations to our patients. Technologies that simplify procedures, enhance safety, and improve outcomes are central to our approach. The introduction of PFA reflects our continued commitment to delivering world-class cardiac care and ensuring access to the latest global advancements."

As per the healthcare institution, with the simultaneous launch of both PulseSelect and Varipulse platforms, it aims to strengthen its footprint in advanced cardiac care, offering patients across Tamil Nadu and neighbouring states.
