KGMU Introduces AI-enabled MRI & Robotic Systems to Strengthen Advanced Patient Care
The system is expected to improve diagnostic capabilities through faster and more precise imaging, aiding both patient care and academic research
King George Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow, has introduced a series of healthcare facilities, including an AI-enabled MRI unit, robotic surgery systems, digital X-ray machines, and specialized rehabilitation services for children.
The newly installed 3-Tesla AI-enabled MRI machine, valued at approximately INR 24 crore, has been installed at the orthopaedic department.
The system is expected to improve diagnostic capabilities through faster and more precise imaging, aiding both patient care and academic research.
In addition, the hospital also plans to introduce a robotic joint replacement facility to advance precision-driven orthopaedic care.
The system has been procured for INR 8 crore and aims to improve precision in joint replacements and complex procedures, helping reduce errors and support faster recovery.
Further, the institution has installed two digital X-ray units costing nearly INR 3 crore in the orthopaedic department and trauma centre, respectively.
Alongside the new X-ray unit, a mobile digital X-ray machine has also been provided to the trauma center to facilitate bedside treatment for critically injured patients.
Furthermore, to strengthen its care capabilities, the hospital has established an occupational therapy and rehabilitation center in the paediatric orthopaedic department. The facility is aimed at supporting children with cerebral palsy through structured rehabilitation programmes.
Commenting on the new facilities, KGMU Vice-Chancellor, Prof Soniya Nityanand said, “The addition of new facilities will enhance diagnostic precision, reduce waiting time, and make advanced imaging accessible at afford government rate.”
