Karnataka Gov Announces INR 75 Cr Multispeciality Hospital in North Bengaluru

Another 125-bed government hospital is also coming up at Hebbal, taking the combined investment to INR 150 crore.

The Karnataka Government has announced plans to set up a 125-bed multispeciality government hospital in Bellahalli, Yelahanka taluk, with an estimated cost of INR 75 crore.

Recently, the Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda laid the project foundation. According to the Minister, the hospital aims to boost healthcare accessibility, while also addressing a longstanding gap in healthcare infrastructure in the Byatarayanapura constituency.

“Recognising this gap, we have been pursuing the matter continuously for the past four to five years. Today, that effort has finally translated into the foundation for a 125-bed, fully equipped government hospital,” said Byre Gowda.

The hospital is expected to benefit residents of Thanisandra, Kempapura, Kogilu, Nagawara, Hegdenagar, Jalahobli, Marenahalli, Sathanur and Bagalur, as well as surrounding rural and urban settlements.

The hospital is planned as a multi-storey facility with multiple specialised services, with two more floors proposed in the future to take the capacity to 250 beds.

Alongside the Bellahalli facility, another 125-bed government hospital is also coming up at Hebbal, taking the combined investment to INR 150 crore.

The Minister said the area has a substantial population of workers and middle-class families for whom private healthcare can be a significant financial burden.

He further noted that a 60-bed hospital constructed by the Greater Bengaluru Authority at Singapura has been completed and is ready for inauguration.

State Health Minister UT Khader, MLA of Gandhinagar and former state health minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, and other public representatives were present during the event.

The latest development follows the recent inauguration of KLE JGMM Medical College and KLE Hospital and Medical Research Centre in Hubballi.

The facility adds a 1,200-bed hospital and 250 medical college seats to North Karnataka’s healthcare and medical education infrastructure.

The integrated Hospital campus has been developed across about 50 acres with an investment of nearly INR 700 Crore.
