KLE JGMM Medical College, 1,200-Bed KLE Hospital Inaugurated in Hubballi

The integrated KLE JGMM Medical College and KLE Hospital campus has been developed across about 50 acres with an investment of nearly INR 700 Cr.

KLE JGMM Medical College and KLE Hospital and Medical Research Centre have been inaugurated in Hubballi, adding a 250-seat medical college and 1,200-bed hospital to North Karnataka’s healthcare and medical education infrastructure.

The integrated KLE JGMM Medical College and KLE Hospital campus has been developed across about 50 acres with an investment of nearly INR 700 Cr.

The facility has more than 30 lakh square feet of built-up space and has been designed to expand access to specialised healthcare while supporting the clinical training of medical students.

Union Minister for Education Pralhad Joshi inaugurated the JGMM Medical College and KLE Hospital and Medical Research Centre at Gabbur Cross in Hubballi on September 19.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also visited the campus, highlighting its capacity of 250 MBBS seats and 1,200 beds, including 300 beds reserved for economically disadvantaged patients.

The KLE Hospital infrastructure includes general and super-speciality services covering areas such as cardiology, neurology, neurosurgery, gastroenterology, nephrology, organ transplantation, urology, oncology, and endocrinology.

The hospital is also equipped with 24-hour emergency and trauma care, dialysis services, digital X-ray, high-resolution CT scanning, ultrasonography and modern laboratory facilities.

KLE officials had earlier highlighted AI integration within the hospital setup, along with modern equipment and an AI-powered skills laboratory designed to train students in handling medical emergencies.

The campus also includes digital learning spaces, simulation facilities, and laboratories.

"This is the most modern medical college and hospital in Hubballi. You can say artificial intelligence has also been integrated into this hospital setup. We have the most modern equipment, and our team consists of young, highly trained doctors who have completed fellowships outside Hubli. They are experts in their fields, and the entire staff is ready to serve the people," KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research Chancellor Dr Prabhakar Kore said.

The project follows the approval of JGMM Medical College by the National Medical Commission in 2021, initially with an annual intake of 150 MBBS students.

The intake has since increased to 250 seats, while KLE has outlined plans to expand postgraduate medical education across multiple departments.

KLE Hospital and Medical Research Centre began providing services in Hubballi in January 2025, with emergency and outpatient services subsequently expanded.
