Dr Gopinath Mamballikalam Named Chief Operating Officer at Aster MIMS Calicut

Dr Gopinath Mamballikalam has taken over as the Chief Operating Officer at Aster MIMS Calicut, bringing with him over a decade of experience spanning hospital operations and clinical administration across India and the Middle East.
The appointment follows his recent tenure as Chief Operating Officer at Mar Sleeva Medicity in Palai, where he led operational strategies and healthcare delivery improvements for nearly two years.
Prior to that, he served as a Clinical Administrator at Hamad Medical Corporation in Doha, gaining international exposure in managing complex healthcare systems.
Dr Mamballikalam’s career reflects a steady transition from specialized clinical roles into leadership positions. He began as a medical physicist and Radiation Safety Officer, working in institutions such as Aster Medcity and Artemis Health Institute.
Over time, he moved into operations, holding roles including Senior Manager, AGM Operations, and Head of Operations, where he contributed to optimizing hospital workflows, regulatory compliance, and patient care delivery.
His academic background supports this multidisciplinary trajectory. He holds a PhD in Medical Physics from Bharathiar University and a Master’s degree in Radiation Physics from the University of Calicut.
He has further strengthened his administrative capabilities through an Executive Post Graduate Diploma in Hospital Administration from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from Indira Gandhi National Open University.
More recently, he has pursued an Executive MSc in Health Economics, Management, and Policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science, reflecting a growing focus on health systems and policy-level thinking.
