Delhi’s Mata Gujri Hospital Opens NICU, Adds Advanced Medical Equipment

The hospital currently handles more than 1,600 OPD patients each day and has also introduced an e-registration facility to streamline outpatient registration.

Delhi’s Mata Gujri Hospital in Tilak Nagar has expanded its clinical infrastructure with a new 13-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), a dedicated ward for PMJAY beneficiaries and MCD employees, and advanced medical equipment aimed at strengthening specialised care.

Mata Gujri Hospital, formerly known as Tilak Nagar Colony Hospital, is operated by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and serves patients in the West Zone.

The hospital is among MCD’s civic healthcare facilities, which provide secondary-level services to residents across the capital. MCD itself administers healthcare facilities alongside its wider civic responsibilities across Delhi.

The newly inaugurated 13-bed NICU is expected to enable Mata Gujri Hospital to provide intensive care and continuous monitoring for critically ill newborns within the facility.

Alongside the NICU, the hospital has made several pieces of advanced medical equipment operational. These include a Colour Doppler Ultrasound machine for diagnostic imaging, a C-Arm system to support orthopaedic procedures, and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and Phaco machines for ophthalmic care.

A separate ward has also been inaugurated for beneficiaries covered under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) and MCD employees.

Mata Gujri Hospital is listed as a PM-JAY-empanelled government hospital in Delhi, providing another route for eligible beneficiaries to access covered healthcare services.

Speaking at the inauguration, Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi said, “The Municipal Corporation of Delhi is committed to making modern and quality healthcare services accessible to citizens. Strengthening healthcare facilities in MCD hospitals is among the Corporation’s key priorities,” adding that the induction of modern medical equipment would enhance the quality of medical care provided to patients.

The upgrades are being undertaken under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, according to officials.

The hospital is also expected to receive a CT scan facility in the near future, further expanding its diagnostic capabilities.
