The proposed healthcare campus will feature emergency and trauma care services, ICUs, OTs, daycare facilities, and multiple speciality care departments.
Azim Premji University, backed by Azim Premji Foundation, is set to establish a large-scale hospital and allied medical institutions in Jharkhand, aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery, medical education, and research infrastructure in the region.
The proposed healthcare campus will feature a 1,270-bed hospital equipped with emergency and trauma care services, intensive care units (ICUs), operating theatres (OTs), daycare facilities, and multiple speciality care departments.
The initiative is expected to significantly improve access to healthcare services for the rural and semi-urban population in the region.
In addition to the hospital, the project includes a medical college offering undergraduate and postgraduate programs alongside a nursing and allied health college aimed at supporting skilled healthcare professionals.
The upcoming facility is being envisioned as a centre of excellence, focused on delivering high-quality patient care, fostering innovation in medical education, and leading advancements in medical research in India.
Located nearly 45 km from Ranchi, the institution is expected to cater to underserved communities while also contributing to the region’s healthcare ecosystem.
The latest development builds on the Azim Premji Foundation’s ongoing Ranchi campus project in Jharkhand, which includes a multispecialty hospital, medical college, university, and allied health institutions.
Reportedly, the philanthropy-led hospital project is currently under development and is expected to be completed by January 2027.
In a separate development, the Foundation announced plans to set up a 1,000-bed super speciality hospital in Bengaluru.
The initiative seeks to provide advanced and affordable healthcare, with a particular focus on organ transplantation and tertiary-level hospital services for underserved populations.
The hospital will also be empanelled under public health insurance schemes such as Ayushman Bharat Arogya Karnataka, ensuring that eligible patients can access care without facing high out-of-pocket expenses.
