In a recent development, AIIMS Bhopal and Barkatullah University have joined hands to enhance research initiatives in fields including AI, mental health, and social medicine.
The institutions have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which was attended by senior officials and faculty members from both institutions.
Further, the agreement was formalized by prof Ajai Singh, executive director, AIIMS Bhopal, and prof Suresh Kumar Jain, VC, Barkatullah University.
The MoU aims to establish joint educational programs, dual degree opportunities, and robust student and faculty exchange initiatives.
This partnership is also expected to pave the way for groundbreaking research and innovative educational programs in AI, mental health, and social medicine to facilitate knowledge sharing, and promote interdisciplinary studies., claimed the institutions.
Prof Singh highlighted the longstanding collaborative efforts between AIIMS Bhopal and Barkatullah University, which have spanned over the last five years.
"It is essential that we initiate joint educational programs, especially focusing on dual degree programs. Additionally, we should explore new possibilities through student and faculty exchange programs. There is a significant need to work in the fields of artificial intelligence, social medicine, social reforms, and mental health," he added.
Further, prof Singh noted that there is a need to expand these efforts and give them new dimensions.
Echoing the sentiment, prof Jain said, "Together, we can make substantial contributions in bioinformatics and the social and cultural fields, which will greatly benefit society. By integrating various ongoing projects at AIIMS Bhopal, we can innovate and drive impactful research. Funding will not be a constraint for such joint efforts."
Established in 1970 as Bhopal University, it was later renamed Barkatullah University in 1988. The University aims to provide quality education, promote research, and contribute to the overall development of students and society.
AIIMS Bhopal, on the other hand, was established in 2012 under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY) by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
It is a medical research public university and an Institute of National Importance. AIIMS Bhopal aims to provide advanced healthcare, specialized medical research, and train skilled healthcare professionals. It focuses on the latest developments in medicine and patient care.
