Women Account for 57.14% of eSanjeevani Teleconsultations as Platform Crosses 50 Cr Mark

The government said the platform is helping extend access to medical consultations remotely, particularly for people in rural, remote and underserved areas where geographical barriers can limit access to healthcare.

Women accounted for 57.14% of consultations delivered through eSanjeevani, while citizens aged 46 years and above accounted for 40.15% of consultations, as India’s national telemedicine platform crossed 50 crore cumulative teleconsultations, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Tuesday.

eSanjeevani crossed the milestone on September 15, 2026, recording 50,00,92,730 teleconsultations across all 36 states and Union Territories, according to the ministry.

The government said the platform is helping extend access to medical consultations remotely, particularly for people in rural, remote and underserved areas where geographical barriers can limit access to healthcare.

Of the total consultations, 16.25% were availed by senior citizens aged 60 years and above, while women represented more than half of overall utilization.

The platform has expanded its service network to more than 1.42 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandir spokes, 19,473 medical hubs and 901 online OPDs. It currently has 2,41,923 registered healthcare providers.

eSanjeevani is available in 15 languages, including English and 14 Indian languages, and facilitates approximately 2.5 lakh to 3 lakh consultations every day, the ministry said.

Its highest single-day utilization has reached 6,30,315 consultations, indicating the scale of telemedicine use through the national platform.

The ministry said the participation of women and older citizens highlights the role of telemedicine in improving access and convenience while complementing services provided through the public healthcare system.

The platform was developed to support remote consultations and extend healthcare services beyond physical facilities. Its use across all states and Union Territories has positioned telemedicine as an additional channel for healthcare delivery, particularly where distance and availability of services remain barriers.
