WellSpan Health Appoints Wasif Jamal as Senior Vice President & Chief Information Officer

Jamal joins WellSpan from Providence Health in Renton, Washington, where he served as global chief technology officer. In that position, he led enterprise-wide infrastructure, cloud, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity initiatives.

WellSpan Health has appointed Wasif Jamal as senior vice president and chief information officer, effective June 15, 2026.

In the role, Jamal will lead enterprise-wide information technology and analytics functions across the health system. His responsibilities include oversight of IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, application product strategy, and enterprise analytics. The organization said his work will support clinical operations, business transformation, and data-driven decision-making across WellSpan.

WellSpan Health is an integrated delivery system serving central Pennsylvania and northern Maryland, with more than 2,500 employed providers across 250+ locations and nine hospitals. It operates a clinically integrated network of 3,000 aligned physicians and advanced practice providers focused on delivering coordinated care across services.

Jamal joins WellSpan from Providence Health in Renton, Washington, where he served as global chief technology officer. In that position, he led enterprise-wide infrastructure, cloud, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity initiatives. He also oversaw teams focused on improving operational efficiencies, modernizing technology systems, and strengthening the resilience and security of critical platforms.

Before his tenure at Providence, Jamal held senior global technology leadership positions at Microsoft Corporation and General Electric. During his career, he has led large-scale infrastructure, security, and enterprise transformation initiatives supporting mission-critical technology environments worldwide.

Jamal holds a master’s degree in computer information systems from Gannon University and a bachelor’s degree in electrical telecommunications engineering from the National University of Science and Technology. He is Lean Six Sigma certified and has completed advanced leadership and strategy training through Stanford University.

The appointment comes as health systems continue to expand investments in digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, analytics, and artificial intelligence to support clinical and operational priorities.
