UP Approves INR 13.46 Cr to Equip 20 Hospitals with Modern Medical Equipment
The funds will be used to procure digital X-ray machines, ultrasound systems, patient monitors, and other high-priority medical devices required for emergency response and routine diagnostics.
The Uttar Pradesh government has approved ₹13.46 crore to equip 20 hospitals with modern medical devices, marking a notable step in strengthening the state’s healthcare infrastructure.
The funding will support upgrades to diagnostic, emergency and maternal–child health services across district hospitals and community health centers.
Announcing the approval, Sunil Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary (Medical & Health), said the initiative is aimed at closing long-standing gaps in equipment availability and improving clinical readiness across hospitals. “Ensuring that facilities are equipped with modern diagnostic and lifesaving devices is essential for delivering faster and safer patient care,” Sharma said.
The funds will be used to procure digital X-ray machines, ultrasound systems, anesthesia workstations, patient monitors and other high-priority medical devices required for emergency response and routine diagnostics.
Officials noted that the procurement process will follow updated quality and compliance standards to ensure reliability and long-term usability.
Supporting the initiative, Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH, emphasized that strengthening public hospitals remains a core priority for the government.
He stated that the modernization effort will help reduce the patient load on tertiary-care centers by improving the capability of secondary-level hospitals to manage more cases effectively.
Public health experts say the upgrades will be particularly impactful in rural and semi-urban districts where equipment shortages have historically slowed diagnostic workflows and limited treatment options.
With improved imaging and monitoring systems, clinicians will be able to deliver faster assessments and provide timely interventions, especially in emergency and obstetric care.
The modernization plan aligns with the state’s broader strategy to enhance healthcare accessibility, digital integration and emergency preparedness.
