Sri Lanka’s Health Minister Visits MEA for Briefing on India’s Digital Health Initiatives

Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, the Minister of Health and Mass Media of Sri Lanka, has reportedly visited the Ministry of External Affairs for a briefing on India’s flagship digital health initiatives.

The meeting highlighted significant advancements in healthcare technology, particularly in the areas of telemedicine and healthcare accessibility.

According to a social media post by Randhir Jaiswal, Spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, representatives from the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) India and the National Health Authority showcased the eSanjeevani telemedicine platform and the innovative Health Kiosks aimed at enhancing last-mile healthcare access.

These initiatives are backed by India’s extensive digital health repository ecosystem, which aims to improve health outcomes across the region.

Dr. Jayatissa visited to serve as the chief guest at the World Health Day 2026 event, which was organized by the World Health Organization (WHO) South-East Asia Regional Office in New Delhi.

This year’s theme, 'Together for health. Stand with science', underscores the importance of a collaborative approach to health and the critical role of scientific advancements in public health policy.

The WHO aims to provide technical assistance and formulate policies that seek to secure the health of nearly two billion people in the South-East Asia region.

The primary objective of this year's celebration is to highlight the significance of scientific discoveries and teamwork in safeguarding human health. A focal point of the discussions will be the 'One Health' approach, which emphasizes the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health.
