Sonova Launches New AI-Powered Hearing Aid Platform

The new Phonak EON platform features a smaller and lighter hearing aid and an advanced AI system designed to make speech twice as understandable while reducing listening effort, according to Sonova's Head of Research and Development Anders Rosengren.

Sonova has launched its third hearing-aid platform using real-time artificial intelligence (AI), as the Swiss hearing-care company seeks to drive device replacements and attract new users amid growing demand for technology upgrades.

The new Phonak EON platform features a smaller and lighter hearing aid and an advanced AI system designed to make speech twice as understandable while reducing listening effort, according to Sonova's Head of Research and Development Anders Rosengren.

Sonova was the first company to launch a hearing aid using real-time AI to separate speech from background noise in 2024. The EON platform represents the company's latest iteration of the technology.

Oliver Lux, President of Sonova's EMEA and Latin America regions, said the company expects adoption of EON to build quickly among both replacement customers and first-time users.

Sonova has not disclosed pricing for the new platform. Lux said the device was designed to support the company's premium market positioning at launch.

The platform was launched in the United States on Monday, with availability in Australia and key European markets, including Germany, France, Italy and Britain, planned for mid-September. A broader global rollout will follow.

The launch comes as Sonova works toward its medium-term growth targets, which faced investor skepticism in March. The company continues to report positive market conditions across its key regions, particularly Asia-Pacific and Latin America.

Under CEO Eric Bernard, who took over in September 2025, Sonova has placed greater emphasis on Asia-Pacific as a growth market. The company is seeking to increase volumes and expand its presence in markets supported by aging populations.
