India’s healthcare system has undergone a major transformation in recent years, driven by a stronger focus on policy, technology, and inclusivity, Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda said at a national summit.

Speaking at the 10th National Summit on Innovation & Inclusivity – Best Practices Shaping India’s Health Future, organized by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in Chandigarh, the minister highlighted how reforms introduced in 2017 reshaped the country’s healthcare approach.

“With the introduction of the new policy in 2017, the approach shifted from a primarily curative model to a comprehensive, holistic & inclusive health policy,” Nadda said, underlining the transition towards a more preventive and people-centric system.

He also pointed to the role of digital integration in strengthening healthcare delivery. “I commend the Ministry of Health for integrating programs under the National Health Mission through new portals, which will strengthen health record management for workers and citizens, especially mothers and children,” he said.

The minister stressed that healthcare must remain inclusive and accessible, ensuring that services reach all sections of society. He also highlighted the importance of innovation and best practices in building a resilient and efficient healthcare system.

Emphasizing the broader framework guiding these reforms, Nadda added, “If I talk about initiatives, I will talk about strengthening the health system in the fields of science, innovation, technology, and, most importantly, through policy. Which I refer to again and again. Comprehensive Health Policy of 2017.”

The summit brought together policymakers, public health experts, and industry stakeholders to discuss strategies for improving healthcare delivery and expanding access across India.
