Rajasthan Expands Mission Madhuhari with AI & Digital Tracking to Strengthen Diabetes Care
The initiative currently operates through 120 dedicated Type 1 diabetes clinics across all 41 districts, with another 80 clinics expected to become operational within the next three months.
Rajasthan has expanded Mission Madhuhari by strengthening AI-enabled disease management, digital patient tracking and specialised Type 1 diabetes services, as the state moves to improve diagnosis, monitoring and long-term care while working towards reducing diabetes-related deaths by 2030.
According to the state's Medical and Health Department, nearly 53,000 people in Rajasthan are estimated to have the condition.
The Government of Rajasthan is implementing Mission Madhuhari to create a structured care pathway for children and young people living with Type 1 diabetes.
The programme is focused on improving diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and awareness while using digital technology to strengthen long-term disease management.
The initiative currently operates through 120 dedicated Type 1 diabetes clinics across all 41 districts, with another 80 clinics expected to become operational within the next three months.
So far, 2,817 patients have been enrolled and are being monitored through the Mission Madhuhari digital application, enabling continuous follow-up and treatment tracking.
According to the department, 99 per cent of registered patients are receiving basal-bolus insulin therapy, while regular HbA1c testing and follow-up assessments are being carried out.
Rajasthan is also extending the programme to private hospitals to support digital registration and continuity of care.
Principal Secretary, Medical and Health, Gayatri Rathore said the programme began with an assessment of public health facilities in March 2024.
A pilot project was launched in June 2024 in collaboration with the William J. Clinton Foundation at selected hospitals in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur and Nagaur before being expanded across the state.
During the current year, the department plans to provide Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) devices to around 4,000 patients.
Moreover, Rajasthan has developed the MadhuRoop AI Digital Twin platform, which analyses patient health information to predict the risk of hypoglycaemia and hyperglycaemia and assist clinicians in treatment decisions.
The state has also introduced Madhu Netra AI, an AI-based diabetic retinopathy screening system that has been deployed across seven districts.
Beyond clinical care, Mission Madhuhari has established a Madhuhari Bank to ensure uninterrupted availability of insulin and other essential supplies.
