Through this collaboration, Rairangpur Sub-Divisional Hospital (SDH) will offer specialized care benefiting people in Rairangpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and neighboring districts. AIIMS Bhubaneswar has also committed to supporting the construction of a new 100-bed hospital at the SDH.

In a significant move to strengthen healthcare services in Odisha, the government has signed an MoU between the Odisha government and JHPIEGO - an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University.

The agreement was sought to deliver world-class healthcare in critical areas like nursing services, maternal and child health, non-communicable disease management, nutrition, and emergency obstetric care.

JHPIEGO (Johns Hopkins Program for International Education in Gynecology and Obstetrics) has offered to provide technical healthcare support, policy planning, evidence-based practice implementation, quality improvement, medical education enhancement, trainer development, and digital learning solutions.

Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling, who was present during the MoU signing, said, “This partnership reflects our shared commitment to strengthening the health systems of Odisha through inclusive and sustainable interventions.”

Over the years, he said, Odisha has made significant strides in improving health outcomes in various parameters. “However, we are equally aware that new challenges continue to emerge, requiring innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning,” he added.

The department has signed an MoU with AIIMS Bhubaneswar to deliver advanced healthcare services to residents of Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district and surrounding areas.

Mahaling has announced that, through this collaboration, Rairangpur Sub-Divisional Hospital (SDH) will offer specialized care benefiting people in Rairangpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and neighboring districts. AIIMS Bhubaneswar has also committed to supporting the construction of a new 100-bed hospital at the SDH.

Services will include on-demand OPD consultations from specialist departments, monthly or bi-monthly medical camps (covering dental, eye, and disease-specific needs), teleconsultations, treatments, and seamless patient transfers to AIIMS Bhubaneswar.

Through this MoU, a major transformation in healthcare services has taken place in the concerned region. The MoU has been signed by AIIMS Executive Director Dr Ashutosh Biswas and Director of Health Services Dr Pradeep Guru. Health Secretary Aswathy S, along with senior officials and directors of the department, has participated in the MoU discussions.
