Novellia, an NY-based healthtech startup, has secured USD 18 Mn in Series A funding to expand its Patient-Powered Data Platform, strengthen its AI-powered technology, and broaden access to patient-consented health data for medical research.

The round was led by Spark Capital, with participation from Khosla Ventures, Acrew Capital, Bling Capital, and TMV, bringing the company’s total funding to USD 28 million.

Founded in 2023, Novellia has built a platform that allows individuals to securely access and organize medical records from hospitals, clinics, laboratories, and healthcare providers across the United States.

According to the startup, patients can consolidate up to two decades of health information into a single record within seconds.

Alongside the funding announcement, Novellia also introduced a patient-facing mobile application designed to extend access to its platform.

"Behind every patient is a fragmented, incomplete record of their life," said Shashi Shankar, Co-Founder and CEO of Novellia. "Novellia changes the course for this whole industry by putting the patient at the centre."

The startup’s model is built around voluntary patient participation. Individuals can choose whether to contribute their health information for research purposes, while the data is deidentified and anonymized before being made available to pharmaceutical and life sciences organizations.

Novellia says its customer base already includes several of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies as well as emerging diagnostics firms.

The platform also applies proprietary natural language processing models to analyze unstructured clinical information, including physician notes, diagnostic reports, and laboratory narratives.

By extracting insights from these records, Novellia aims to create research-ready datasets that provide deeper context into clinical decision-making and patient outcomes.

With the new funding, Novellia plans to further scale its Patient-Powered Data Platform, enhance its AI infrastructure, and expand patient participation in research.
