NITI Aayog Delegation Visits AMTZ to Explore India's MedTech Manufacturing Ecosystem

Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) recently hosted a high-level NITI Aayog delegation led by M. Srinivas, Member (Health), to review its integrated medical technology manufacturing and innovation ecosystem.
During the visit, the delegation was briefed on AMTZ's integrated ecosystem, which includes medical device manufacturing, diagnostics, research and development, AI-enabled healthcare technologies, startup incubation and other healthcare innovation initiatives.
Additionally, the officials also received an overview of the infrastructure supporting different stages of the medical device lifecycle, including research, testing, validation, manufacturing and commercialisation.
The delegates were welcomed by Dr. Jitendra Sharma, MD & Founder CEO, AMTZ, and interacted with the senior leadership team.
The discussions highlighted the multidisciplinary expertise that powers AMTZ, spanning medical device manufacturing, diagnostics, research and development, AI-enabled healthcare technologies, startup incubation and emerging healthcare innovations.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Jitendra Sharma stated AMTZ was established with the vision of creating a collaborative environment where researchers, healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs and manufacturers work together to develop innovative medical technologies.
“We are honoured to welcome the NITI Aayog delegation and present the progress made by AMTZ in building an ecosystem that supports indigenous innovation. Our focus remains on helping startups, promoting advanced medical technologies and strengthening India’s capabilities in medical device manufacturing for both domestic and global markets,” he added.
The delegation also interacted with startups incubated at MediValley, BioValley, the Bharat Limb Centre and the Centre of Excellence, where innovators showcased cutting-edge technologies and demonstrated their products.
The discussions covered key challenges faced by MedTech startups, including regulatory pathways, manufacturing and market access.
Further, AMTZ outlined the support available to innovators through shared infrastructure, advanced testing facilities, regulatory guidance and industry partnerships aimed at facilitating product development and market access.
Furthermore, the delegation also met representatives of the World Health Innovation Forum and received a briefing on Universal BioMed Cross, an initiative focused on biomedical emergency response, capacity building and global health collaboration.
Highlighting the AMTZ ecosystem, M Srinivas stated the MedTech ecosystem stands as a remarkable example of what can be achieved when industry, academia and government join forces with a shared vision.
He further described AMTZ as one of the finest MedTech ecosystems in the country and said it demonstrates how a shared vision and collaborative approach can accelerate technological advancement in healthcare.
