Neuland Laboratories to Open $20 Mn Process Development Facility With Integrated Kilo Labs in Hyderabad

Neuland Laboratories, a global contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) focused on complex active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), has announced plans to establish a dedicated process development laboratory and integrated kilo lab facility at its Genome Valley campus in Hyderabad.
The company will invest $20 million in the specialist fit-out of the 135,000 sq. ft. facility, which is expected to become fully operational by October 2026. The project will be commissioned in phases over the coming months.
According to the company, the new center has been designed as a purpose-built integrated scale-up laboratory dedicated exclusively to process development activities. Once completed, the facility will expand Neuland’s process development workforce to more than 500 scientists, making it one of the largest process scale-up teams in India.
The facility will integrate digital and automation-driven capabilities, including AI-enabled route scouting, parallel synthesis platforms, and Electronic Laboratory Notebooks (ELNs). These technologies are intended to support faster process development decisions, shorten development timelines, and improve continuity of research data across projects.
A centralized analytical division will be established within the facility, equipped with a broad range of characterization and testing technologies. The site will also feature dedicated zones for process engineering, polymorph studies, process safety assessments, and advanced flow chemistry.
In addition, the center will include five peptide laboratories and three purification laboratories to support development activities across a range of complex API programs.
The integrated kilo lab will serve as a bridge between laboratory-scale research and commercial manufacturing. It will be equipped with 20-liter to 250-liter all-glass reactors, cryogenic processing capabilities, and multiple filtration systems designed to support scale-up operations.
Neuland stated that the kilo lab infrastructure has been developed to ensure manufacturability considerations are incorporated early in process development, enabling a smoother transition of processes from bench-scale research to commercial production environments.
The expansion strengthens the company’s process development infrastructure at its Hyderabad campus and adds dedicated capacity for advancing complex API development programs.
