Merck Launches GCC in Bengaluru to Advance Digital Transformation & Innovation

The Bengaluru campus is designed to support digital innovation initiatives across Merck's Life Science and Healthcare businesses

Merck, a leading science and technology company, has inaugurated its Merck Global Capability Center (MGCC) in Bengaluru.

Located in Electronic City, bringing together its existing technology and shared services operations in India under one integrated campus.

The new facility spans 17,000 square metres and will house approximately 3,300 professionals working across the company’s data, digital, process, and technology functions.

According to Merck, the centre is designed to strengthen collaboration and support innovation across its global businesses, including healthcare.

The campus includes innovation labs, neurodiversity-focused spaces, and collaborative work environments aimed at supporting a diverse workforce and enabling cross-functional teamwork.

A key component of the new centre is Merck’s Digital Enterprise Solutions (DES) organization, intended to process optimization, enterprise platforms, data and artificial intelligence, technology infrastructure, hyperautomation, and process excellence.

As per the organisation, DES is expected to integrate operations and support enterprise-wide digital transformation initiatives.

Commenting on the latest technology, Alessandro De Luca, Head of Digital Enterprise Solutions and Group CIO, Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, said, “The Merck Global Capability Centre is much more than an operational hub; it is a strategic engine for our digital enterprise. By bringing data, technology, and process teams under one roof, we are strengthening the foundation needed to scale innovation faster, improve agility, and deliver greater impact across Merck's global businesses."

In addition to Digital Enterprise Solutions, the Bengaluru campus is designed to support digital innovation initiatives across Merck's Life Science, Healthcare, and other businesses.

The integrated center will serve as a cross-functional hub of excellence in artificial intelligence, analytics, automation, and enterprise technologies, driving innovation across the company's global operations.

With the launch of the MGCC in India, Merck aims to further strengthen its global network, becoming the company's fourth-largest workforce hub after Germany, the United States, and China.
