Max Healthcare Opens Patient Assistance Centre in Tanzania

The Tanzania centre will act as a local point of contact for patients and their families, connecting them with Max Healthcare hospitals, specialists and treatment services in India. It will also provide support before and during treatment.

Max Healthcare has launched a Patient Assistance Centre (PAC) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to support patients from Tanzania and the wider East African region seeking advanced tertiary and quaternary healthcare in India. The centre is the healthcare group’s fourth office in Africa, following facilities in Nairobi, Addis Ababa and Lagos.

The Tanzania centre will act as a local point of contact for patients and their families, connecting them with Max Healthcare hospitals, specialists and treatment services in India. It will also provide support before and during treatment.

According to the company, services at the centre will include treatment information, video consultations with clinicians in India, hospital coordination, treatment cost estimates, visa and travel assistance, interpreter services and other patient-support services.

Max Healthcare’s hospitals provide specialized care across areas including oncology, cardiac sciences, neurosciences, orthopaedics, organ transplantation, renal sciences and robotic surgery, among other complex medical specialties.

Commenting on the launch, Anas Abdul Wajid, Group Director and Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, Max Healthcare, said the Tanzania office would bring the group’s clinical expertise closer to patients in Africa. He also highlighted opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange between healthcare professionals in India and Tanzania.

The company said the centre comes as demand grows across African markets for specialized clinical expertise, advanced medical technology and treatment options. Max Healthcare said its international healthcare partnerships are intended to complement local healthcare systems and facilitate access to specialized treatment in India.

With the addition of Tanzania, Max Healthcare now operates 11 international offices and Patient Assistance Centres across Asia and Africa. The group said it receives more than 45,000 international patients annually from more than 180 nationalities.
