KIMS to Acquire 6% Stake in Ushahkal Abhinav Speciality Hospital for INR 15 Cr
The equity transaction will give KIMS a longer-term financial interest in the hospital as it continues to build its presence across western India.
KIMS has agreed to acquire a 6% equity stake in Ushahkal Abhinav Speciality Hospital in Sangli for INR 15 Cr, marking a shift from KIMS’ existing operations-management arrangement to direct ownership in the 316-bed hospital, with completion targeted for October 31, 2026.
KIMS had entered into an Operations and Management (O&M) agreement with Ushahkal Abhinav Speciality Hospital on February 17, 2025.
Under the arrangement, KIMS was appointed to exclusively operate the 316-bed facility for an initial seven-year period in return for 9% of its net revenue.
The latest agreement will give KIMS a direct equity interest in the hospital.
The Ushahkal Abhinav Speciality Hospital is located in Sangli, Maharashtra, and operates as a quaternary care facility spread across four acres. The hospital has capacity for 316 beds, with scope to expand the facility to up to 500 beds.
The equity transaction will therefore give KIMS a longer-term financial interest in the hospital as it continues to build its presence across western India.
The INR 15 Cr investment represents a 6% ownership interest in Ushahkal Abhinav Speciality Hospital LLP.
KIMS has said the transaction is aimed at aligning operational efficiencies and strengthening its participation in the hospital’s growth.
The move comes as KIMS has continued to expand through a combination of hospital operations, partnerships and selective equity investments. On October 6, 2026, the company approved the acquisition of up to a 51% stake in Insignia Healthcare, which operates a 150-bed hospital under the KIMS-SIKHARA brand in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh.
KIMS had also entered into a five-year O&M agreement with Sarvottam Health Care on September 10, 2026, to operate a hospital in Kakinada.
For KIMS, the Sangli transaction also provides a transition from a management-fee model to equity participation.
The company can retain an ownership interest in a facility where it has already established an operating relationship, while gaining exposure to the hospital’s future performance and expansion.
The development adds another layer to KIMS’ presence in Maharashtra and its wider western India expansion strategy.
