Kamala Nehru Memorial Hospital to Launch Advanced AI-enabled Cath Lab with Integrated Diagnostics

The facility integrates AI-driven technologies with high-definition 3D imaging technology to support diagnostics, assist in precision-based procedures, and enable real-time clinical decision-making.

Kamala Nehru Memorial Hospital in Prayagraj has announced plans to set up an advanced AI-enabled catheterisation (cath) lab, aimed at strengthening cardiac care capabilities and improving patient outcomes.

The facility integrates AI-driven technologies with high-definition 3D imaging technology to support diagnostics, assist in precision-based procedures, and enable real-time clinical decision-making.

The adoption of such systems is intended to streamline workflows and enhance the accuracy of cardiovascular interventions.

The system also incorporates smart technologies designed to identify procedural irregularities in real time, ensuring safer and more efficient patient care.

In addition to the cath lab, the hospital is also developing a separate recovery room on the hospital premises to support the new facility.

The facility will also provide integrated diagnostic services such as ultrasound, MRI, CT scan, and X-ray, which is expected to reduce the need for patients to move across different sections of the hospital for tests.

The project involves an estimated investment of around INR 20 crore and is expected to scale up cardiac treatment in the region by providing advanced technology and improved patient care under one roof.

Providing an update on the progress of the new unit, Hospital Director Hari Om Singh informed that the machine has already been installed and will become operational once the dedicated recovery room is completed.

He further added, “This will be the third such AI cath lab facility in the country and the first in Uttar Pradesh. The project involves an investment of around Rs 20 crore.”

Officials have also indicated that the AI cath lab is expected to improve the accuracy of procedures such as stent placement and will include advanced features such as smooth gantry movement and enhanced imaging quality, which will provide greater flexibility to doctors during operations.

Last month, the hospital partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT-K) to develop a portable AI-enabled device for early detection of lung cancer, particularly in areas with limited diagnostic infrastructure and specialist interpretation.
