J&J MedTech’s DePuy Synthes Expands Bengaluru Tech Operations With New GCC

The planned hiring will cover digital technology, software engineering, data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI) and automation, cybersecurity, and healthcare technology innovation, alongside finance, supply chain, procurement and other business functions.

DePuy Synthes, the orthopaedics company of Johnson & Johnson MedTech, is setting up a new Global Capability Center (GCC) in Bengaluru that will focus on technology, digital capabilities and global business operations. The company plans to hire approximately 500 professionals over the next two years, with technology-focused roles forming a key part of the expansion.

The planned hiring will cover digital technology, software engineering, data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI) and automation, cybersecurity, and healthcare technology innovation, alongside finance, supply chain, procurement and other business functions.

The Bengaluru center is expected to serve as a technology hub supporting DePuy Synthes’ global operations. Its technology teams will work on areas including advanced analytics, automation, digital health solutions and enterprise transformation, while collaborating with teams across international markets.

The expansion comes as healthcare and medical technology companies increasingly use GCCs in India to build specialized technology capabilities. These centers are taking on functions such as software development, data science, AI, cybersecurity, product engineering and digital transformation, alongside traditional global business services.

For DePuy Synthes, the new GCC will provide technology and engineering capabilities to support its global business requirements. The center is also expected to contribute to initiatives involving digital transformation, technology-enabled operational improvements and data-driven decision-making.

Bengaluru’s established technology ecosystem and availability of specialized talent were key factors behind its selection as the location for the new center. The city has become a major base for multinational companies developing India-based technology and innovation teams serving global markets.

The planned workforce will include professionals with expertise across software, data, AI, automation and cybersecurity, indicating a technology-heavy component within the GCC’s operating model. The center will also support business functions such as finance and supply chain as part of its broader global operations mandate.
