The platform integrates customizable AI prompts, human-in-the-loop data confirmation, decision-support tools, and AI-powered automation.
InterSystems has introduced IntelliCare, an electronic health record (EHR) system designed with AI and interoperability as central components.
The system launched at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) 2025 Global Health Conference & Exhibition, builds on the company’s TrakCare EHR platform and its IRIS for Health cloud data management solution.
According to InterSystems, IntelliCare is intended to optimize workflows, reduce administrative burdens, and enhance patient-provider interactions while ensuring strict human oversight for accuracy and safety.
"IntelliCare is designed specifically for healthcare systems undergoing rapid digital transformation and seeking modern, seamlessly connected solutions without the constraints of legacy systems," the company stated.
A key feature of IntelliCare is its integration of AI into clinical, administrative, and financial workflows. The platform’s AI-driven documentation tools use ambient listening to capture doctor-patient interactions in real-time and generate encounter notes, reducing the need for manual data entry.
Don Woodlock, head of global healthcare solutions at InterSystems, emphasized the role of AI in improving efficiency. "By building an EHR solution with AI at its core, we’re helping healthcare providers focus on what matters: more face time with patients and less screen time."
IntelliCare also incorporates an AI Assistant capable of executing natural language commands and summarizing patient histories. Additionally, it prepopulates billing codes within the revenue cycle management system, aiming to minimize errors and streamline financial operations.
The platform integrates customizable AI prompts, human-in-the-loop data confirmation, decision-support tools, and AI-powered automation. Its voice-to-text and image-capture capabilities are designed to facilitate more seamless clinical documentation.
Currently, IntelliCare is available in Australia, Chile, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, New Zealand, Thailand, and the United Arab Emirates, with broader availability pending.
Healthcare organizations worldwide are increasingly incorporating AI into their digital infrastructure, and InterSystems aims to support this transition with its data and interoperability solutions.
Jusup Halimi, president director of EMC Healthcare in Indonesia, noted the potential of AI in healthcare technology. "With its advanced AI functionality and decades of proven reliability, InterSystems IntelliCare was the obvious choice to provide our hospitals with the most advanced solution available."
InterSystems is also prioritizing AI-ready data management. "Our main objective for our first release is the clinician user experience—to try and make it a more humanizing experience for physicians, nurses, and everybody interacting with our software," Woodlock said.
He added that the company is focused on ensuring customers’ data is structured and secure for AI applications.
"We really believe that good data is a foundation for good AI. We are helping our customers with their data strategies, how they bring all their data together, normalize it, and scale it securely."
As AI adoption grows in healthcare, industry discussions have shifted toward practical applications, challenges such as security and bias, and expanding AI use cases beyond physicians to nursing and other healthcare roles.
