Hitachi High-Tech Opens Mumbai Innovation Center to Support Biopharmaceutical & Industrial Analysis

Hitachi High-Tech plans to operate the Mumbai and Bengaluru facilities as a two-site solution network, with Mumbai addressing chemical and industrial applications and Bengaluru supporting semiconductor-focused requirements.

Hitachi High-Tech, a global Japanese manufacturing and trading subsidiary of Hitachi, has opened an Advanced-Technology Innovation Center in Mumbai to support R&D and quality-control needs across biopharmaceuticals, environmental, materials, and chemical industries.

Located in the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) area of Thane, the Mumbai Lab has been designed as a demonstration and collaboration facility for chemical and industrial applications.

The facility houses analytical systems including spectrophotometers, liquid chromatographs, thermal analyzers, amino acid analyzers, and potentiometric titrators.

Customers will be able to use the equipment for sample evaluation and proof-of-concept activities, while working with Hitachi High-Tech specialists on application development and potential solutions to specific analytical challenges.

For the biopharmaceutical sector, the facility could support analytical evaluation activities associated with research and quality processes.

Hitachi High-Tech India already provides technologies across healthcare and life sciences, including clinical analysers and biotechnology products, alongside analytical systems used in environmental and materials applications.

The company plans to operate the Mumbai and Bengaluru facilities as a two-site solution network, with Mumbai addressing chemical and industrial applications and Bengaluru supporting semiconductor-focused requirements.

This setup is intended to bring demonstrations, technical expertise, and collaborative problem-solving closer to customers in India's expanding technology and manufacturing sectors.

Hitachi High-Tech also plans to use the centers for hands-on workshops, academic collaborations, and student internships.

The Mumbai Lab is also part of Hitachi High-Tech's broader focus on combining physical analytical equipment with digital technologies under HMAX Industry, a next-generation solutions initiative of Hitachi's Connective Industries sector.

The company has been developing digital solutions that combine domain expertise, equipment-generated data, and technologies such as AI to improve industrial R&D and manufacturing processes.
