HCG Cancer Hospital has expanded its footprint in Guwahati with the launch of its Expert Cancer OPD services aimed at strengthening specialized cancer care in North-East India.

The initiative was launched in collaboration with ARHI Hospital, Guwahati, and is designed to decentralize specialized oncology expertise.

It seeks to enable patients to access specialized cancer consultations, early diagnosis support, and structured treatment guidance while reducing the logistical and financial burden of traveling to distant metro cities.

In addition, the first OPD featured a multidisciplinary team of senior specialists from HCG’s Kolkata and Bengaluru hubs offering expert guidance in multiple cancer specialties, including Uro-Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Haemato Oncology (BMT), and Radiation Oncology.

Speaking on the initiative, Dr Rupali Basu, Regional Business Head- East & AP, HCG Cancer Hospitals, “Access to the right cancer care should not be limited by geography. With the introduction of our Expert Cancer OPD in Guwahati, we are taking a meaningful step towards ensuring that patients in the Northeast have timely access to specialised consultation, enabling them to make informed decisions at the earliest stage possible.”

By providing personalized treatment pathways locally, the collaboration aims to empower patients with clarity and informed decision-making at the earliest stages of their diagnosis.

Commenting on the new collaboration, Dr. Sandeep Tapadia, Managing Director, ARHI Hospital, said, “Cancer care requires timely intervention, expert guidance, and easy accessibility for patients. Through this collaboration with HCG Cancer Hospital, we aim to bring specialised oncology expertise closer to communities in the Northeast, ensuring that patients can access advanced consultations and informed treatment support without the added burden of long-distance travel.”

The expansion is intended to reduce geographical barriers and improve advanced cancer care across the region by bringing specialized oncology services closer to local communities.

Founded in 1989 and headquartered in Bengaluru, HCG has grown into one of India’s largest cancer care networks. It currently operates 21 cancer centres, four multispecialty hospitals, and eight day care centres across the country, while also maintaining an international presence in Kenya.

In recent development, the healthcare institution also introduced India’s first EDGE Multi-Port Endoscopic Surgical Robot System, expanding its portfolio of AI-powered imaging and robotic-assisted surgical technologies.

The new system is aimed at improving precision, control, and patient outcomes in complex procedures.
