Geisinger Names Bill Bellando as Executive Vice President & CIO

Danville, Pennsylvania-based Geisinger has appointed Bill Bellando as executive vice president and chief information officer, marking a leadership transition for the health system's technology and digital operations.
Bellando announced the appointment in a LinkedIn post on June 5. He joins Geisinger after serving as senior vice president and chief information officer at Georgia-based Wellstar Health System from 2022 to 2026.
In his announcement, Bellando highlighted Geisinger's reputation for innovation and healthcare transformation.
“Geisinger is widely recognized for its patient-centered approach, clinical excellence, commitment to innovation and focus on transforming healthcare delivery,” Bellando wrote. “The opportunity to help advance that mission through technology, digital transformation and operational excellence is both humbling and energizing.”
Bellando said he is beginning “a new chapter” in his career and looks forward to contributing to the organization's technology strategy while supporting future healthcare delivery initiatives.
Before joining Geisinger, Bellando spent five years at Wellstar, where he oversaw information technology and digital initiatives across the health system. In his LinkedIn post, he reflected on his tenure at Wellstar and thanked colleagues and leadership for their support and collaboration.
He specifically acknowledged Wellstar President and CEO Candice Saunders and Chief Academic Officer Dr. Hank Capps for their leadership and mentorship during his time at the organization.
“Over the past 5 years, I have had the privilege of working with some of the most talented, dedicated, and compassionate professionals in healthcare,” Bellando wrote. “Together, we navigated challenges, celebrated successes, and pushed ourselves to improve the experience of our patients, team members, and communities.”
Geisinger, headquartered in Danville, Pennsylvania, operates an integrated health system that includes hospitals, clinics, research programs, and health insurance services. Bellando will now lead the organization's information technology strategy, digital transformation efforts, and technology operations as part of its executive leadership team.
