Fortis Escorts Unveils AI-enabled Hybrid Cath Lab to Support Complex Cardiac Procedures

The integration of AI-powered, robot-assisted, advanced 3D visualization and hybrid surgical capabilities is aimed at supporting greater precision in procedural planning, image acquisition, and device navigation during complex cardiovascular and endovascular interventions.

New Delhi-based Fortis Escorts has unveiled the next-gen AI-Powered, Robot-Assisted Hybrid Cath Lab ‘ARTIS pheno.vision’ at its facility, designed to support complex cardiac, vascular, and image-guided procedures.

The latest facility combines robotic angiography, AI-powered imaging, and hybrid operating room capabilities to enhance procedural precision and flexibility.

The integration of AI-powered, robot-assisted, advanced 3D visualization and hybrid surgical capabilities is aimed at supporting greater precision in procedural planning, image acquisition, and device navigation during complex cardiovascular and endovascular interventions.

This technology seeks to support minimally invasive treatment approaches, potentially reducing the need for open surgeries, lessening procedural trauma, shortening hospital stays, and expediting patient recovery while minimising complications, including infections.

The hybrid Cath Lab is particularly relevant for patients with complex cardiovascular conditions, including older adults, individuals with multiple comorbidities, and those with challenging anatomical characteristics.

According to the hospital, the installation marks the first initiative in India for managing complex cardiovascular conditions.

Speaking at the launch, Dr. Ashutosh Raghuvanshi, MD & CEO, Fortis Healthcare, said, “Our aim at Fortis Healthcare is to bring the most advanced technology and clinical expertise together so that patients in India can access world-class cardiac care close to home. The introduction of this robotic hybrid cath lab marks a monumental leap in clinical capabilities by bringing advanced AI-Powered, Robot-Assisted Hybrid Cath Lab precision to complex heart procedures, expanding patient access to cutting-edge minimally invasive therapies. It strengthens our ability to treat the most complex heart and vascular conditions with greater precision and safety.”

Key Features

The ARTIS pheno.vision Hybrid Cath Lab is designed to support a wide range of complex cardiovascular procedures, including Aortic Procedure such as endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR), along with complex aortic repair and replacement procedures.

It facilitates transcatheter aortic valve implantation or replacement (TAVI/TAVR) and mitral valve interventions, including MitraClip and transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVR).

The hybrid Cath Lab also enables image-guided procedures for peripheral vascular disease, helping clinicians treat conditions affecting blood vessels outside the heart and brain.

Its capabilities spread across selected procedures combining robotic cardiac surgery and angioplasty, integrating surgical and catheter-based approaches within a hybrid procedural setting.

The system further supports procedures involving cardiac resynchronisation therapy defibrillators (CRT-Ds) and leadless pacemakers to manage specific heart rhythm and conduction disorders.

Dr. Ashok Seth, Chairman, Cardiac Sciences, Fortis Healthcare, said, “For high-risk patients, the ability to move from a catheter-based procedure to surgery in the same operating room is a major advantage. Robotic positioning, sharper AI- powered imaging, and a lower radiation dose will help us place devices more accurately in procedures such as TAVI and complex vascular interventions, and make these treatments safer for patients, which were once considered too complex. Fortis Escorts, New Delhi, is the only corporate hospital to have integrated this technology.”
