Eight Centres. One Radiology Workflow. How Prima Diagnostics Unified Operations Across Eight Bengaluru Imaging Centres on Somatiq's AI-enabled Radiology Platform
Prima Diagnostics has deployed Somatiq’s AI-enabled radiology platform across its eight imaging centres in Bengaluru, creating a unified radiology workflow across its network. According to Prima Diagnostics, the platform has helped its radiologists report nearly 30% faster while enabling seamless access to imaging studies and patient records across centres.
Client: Prima Diagnostics | Footprint: 8 imaging centres, Bengaluru | On Somatiq since: 2025
Prima Diagnostics moved all eight of its Bengaluru imaging centres onto a new radiology platform in about the time it usually takes to bring a single centre live. None of the centres stopped work while it happened. Since the move, Prima reports that its radiologists are reporting nearly 30 per cent faster.
Behind those numbers is a bigger shift. Prima didn't just connect eight centres. It made eight centres operate as one radiology network.
The Cost of Growing Centre by Centre
Most diagnostic chains grow one centre at a time, and so does their software. Each branch ends up with its own booking system, its own image archive and its own way of reporting. A patient's previous scan sits at one centre, invisible at the next. The chain looks like one network from the outside and works like eight small ones inside.
One Platform, from Booking to Report
Every scan passes through three kinds of software. A radiology information system (RIS) handles registration and scheduling. A picture archiving and communication system (PACS) stores and displays the images. A reporting tool is where the radiologist writes the report. Most chains buy these separately and stitch them together.
Somatiq builds them as one. At Prima, every step from registration to the report reaching the referring doctor now runs on the same platform at all eight centres, with AI-assisted dictation and structured reporting inside the same screen. The radiologist still reads every image and signs every report, and the platform clears the path to it.
Sharing thoughts, Dr. Gururaj Rao, MBBS, DMRD, DNB, Managing Partner, CEO & Chief Radiologist, Prima Diagnostics, said, “Prima Diagnostics could be called a testing ground for the earliest Somatiq prototype, and I'm very happy to see such an excellent and holistic radiology diagnostic solution emerge in such a short time from inception. We have begun to use almost every feature of Somatiq including the latest AI features and prompts and its made life so much easier for our radiologists.”
He further shared that “Our ability to share links of the imaging studies on Whatsapp has also revolutionised our interaction with the referring clinicians giving them instant and full access to their patient’s study.”
“The dedicated team under the able stewardship of Dr Vishwanath and Naveen deserve all my praise and appreciation for their efforts in bringing forth Somatiq, which is poised to emerge as the best end to end radiology solution in the market.”
One Login, Eight Centres
A Prima radiologist now signs in once and sees every case waiting across the network. They can work through all of it or focus on one centre, with the same patient records and previous scans either way.
The difference reaches referring doctors too. A report from any Prima centre looks and reads like a report from any other.
"We built Somatiq so that when a chain adds a centre, it joins the network instead of adding another system to it," said Naveen Kumarsami, co-founder and Chief of AI at Somatiq.
Where the Time Came Back
The nearly 30 per cent gain didn't come from anyone reading faster. It came from what disappeared around the reading: hunting for the right scan, chasing previous reports, switching between applications, retyping patient details and waiting for images from another branch. The clinical judgment is the same. The busywork around it is gone.
Ready for Centre Nine
For most chains, a new centre means another round of setting up systems and wiring them back to the rest. For Prima, the ninth centre will simply join the network already running at eight.
"Diagnostic chains in India are growing faster than the systems that run them," said Dr. Vishwanath R S, co-founder and CEO of Somatiq, and a radiologist himself. "Prima has shown that a network can grow without growing its complexity. That should be the standard for every multi-centre chain in the country."
Eight centres, one network, and room for many more.
