Maharashtra Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif has inaugurated advanced healthcare facilities at Chhatrapati Pramilaraje Sarvopchar Rugnalaya, also known as CPR Hospital, in Kolhapur.

The upgraded facilities are part of the hospital’s ongoing redevelopment and are meant to improve treatment access and medical services for patients in Kolhapur and nearby areas.

The new additions include a pulmonary laboratory attached to the respiratory ICU, which has 10 beds, ventilators, and multi-parameter monitors for respiratory care. A 40-bed medical ICU and a 16-bed surgical ICU have also been commissioned, giving the hospital more capacity to treat critical patients, including accident victims.

Along with intensive care upgrades, the hospital now has a modern physiotherapy laboratory with a robotic arm and a robotic gait training system.

The facility also includes equipment for physiotherapy and occupational therapy. Other newly introduced services include a pharmacogenomics laboratory and an updated ear, nose and throat department.

Mushrif said the redevelopment of CPR Hospital would strengthen healthcare services in western Maharashtra and reduce the need for patients to travel outside the district for treatment. He also said that quality treatment will now be available closer to home, especially for people who depend on government healthcare facilities.

The event also included an inspection of the newly developed infrastructure. Officials present at the inauguration included MLA Rajesh Kshirsagar, Kolhapur mayor Rouparani Nikam, district collector Vijay Rathod, Municipal Commissioner Dr Rajendra Bharud, Zilla Parishad CEO Dr Jasmine, and CPR Dean Dr Sadanand Bhise.

The redevelopment work is expected to continue in phases, with the next set of developments set to be inaugurated next month by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, in the presence of Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar.
