Catholic Health Partners with GE HealthCare to Enhance Care Delivery

The $500 Million agreement focuses on deploying advanced imaging systems, precision diagnostics, and AI-enabled technologies to support patient care across Catholic Health's hospitals and ambulatory facilities.

Long Island-based integrated health system Catholic Health has entered into a 10-year strategic partnership with GE HealthCare to expand advanced medical technology capabilities across its care network.

Valued at approximately $500 million, the Care Alliance agreement focuses on deploying advanced imaging systems, precision diagnostics, and AI-enabled technologies to support patient care across Catholic Health's hospitals and ambulatory facilities.

The initiative is expected to introduce more than 1,300 pieces of medical equipment across six acute care hospitals and 36 ambulatory sites.

The Care Alliance will prioritise key clinical areas including cardiology, oncology, neurology, and women’s health.

Beyond clinical application, the partnership will also deploy AI-powered technologies to support scheduling, operations, diagnostics, and monitoring across on-device, departmental, and enterprise-level applications.

Through this modernization initiative, Catholic Health aims to expand access to advanced cardiac imaging across outpatient and ambulatory care settings, enhance oncology services with AI-enabled MR, CT, and PET technologies to support faster diagnosis and treatment, and strengthen nuclear medicine capabilities at its flagship hospitals.

In addition, the initiative aims to deploy additional ultrasound systems to improve clinical efficiency and point-of-care delivery, and advance women's health services through expanded OB/GYN and maternal-fetal medicine capabilities.

A notable component of the partnership is the inclusion of an embedded cardiovascular scientist who will work alongside Catholic Health clinicians.

The approach is intended to provide clinical insights and physician perspectives to inform future technology development and equipment planning.

Speaking on the initiative, Gary Havican, Interim President and CEO and Chief Operating Officer of Catholic Health said, “By combining Catholic Health’s clinical expertise and commitment to compassionate, high-quality care with GE HealthCare’s advanced technology, AI-driven tools, and digital capabilities, we are enhancing our ability to deliver precision care, expand access to specialized services closer to home, and create a more seamless experience for patients and clinicians.”

“The partnership also gives our physicians and care teams a meaningful voice in shaping the future of care so innovation is guided by real clinical and patient needs,” he added.

For patients, the partnership is designed to have a tangible impact on their clinical experience.

As part of the 10-year Care Alliance, approximately 50% of equipment additions will arrive at Catholic Health clinical sites during the first three years of the agreement.

The partnership is also anticipated to support long-term technology modernization efforts while enabling investments in patient access and clinical service expansion.
