Bihar CM Unveils New Facilities at PMCH, Expanding Capacity to 2,500 Beds
As part of a three-phase redevelopment project, PMCH is being developed into a modern 5,462-bed hospital to expand treatment capacity and improve access to healthcare.
Patna Medical College and Hospital has unveiled a series of infrastructure developments, including Tower 3, bringing its bed capacity to 2,500 as part of the ongoing hospital redevelopment project.
Inaugurated by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, the facility includes advanced infrastructure for critical care, surgery, maternity services, paediatric treatment, and diagnostic investigation.
As part of a three-phase redevelopment project, PMCH is being developed into a modern 5,462-bed hospital to expand treatment capacity and improve access to healthcare.
The newly inaugurated Tower 3 includes a Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) on the fifth floor intended to support patient care across paediatric and maternity services, including the management of patients requiring intensive medical attention.
In addition, the Chief Minister reviewed the Modular Operation Theatre on the sixth floor of the building, along with other surgical facilities and operation theatres associated with gynaecological procedures.
He also visited the radiology department on the first floor to assess the available diagnostic facilities.
The addition of surgical and imaging facilities is part of the broader redevelopment effort to strengthen PMCH’s capacity to provide specialised treatment across clinical departments.
Officials briefed the Chief Minister on arrangements for outpatient department (OPD) registration, including registration kiosks and counters.
Other facilities in the building include a refreshment area and patient-support spaces intended to improve the experience of people visiting the hospital.
The Chief Minister reviewed these arrangements as part of the assessment of facilities available under the redevelopment project.
During the review, the CM directed hospital officials to improve coordination between departments so that patients do not face unnecessary difficulties during treatment.
He also stressed the need for regular maintenance of hospital facilities and prompt resolution of problems faced by patients and their families.
