Atropos Health Partners With Health Universe on AI Clinical Decision Support

The partnership will enable healthcare organizations using Health Universe to access patient-specific clinical insights from Atropos within existing clinical workflows, supporting decision-making without requiring clinicians to switch between systems.

Real-world evidence company Atropos Health has partnered with AI healthcare workflow platform Health Universe to bring Atropos’ real-world evidence and clinical decision-support capabilities into Health Universe’s AI clinical workflow platform.

The partnership will enable healthcare organizations using Health Universe to access patient-specific clinical insights from Atropos within existing clinical workflows, supporting decision-making without requiring clinicians to switch between systems.

Atropos Health uses artificial intelligence to analyze real-world and clinical data to answer healthcare questions for clinicians, health systems, and life sciences organizations. Health Universe, meanwhile, uses AI to consolidate medical records from sources including electronic health records and national health information networks into longitudinal patient records.

Its AI agents can then work with those records to perform tasks including patient record summarization, clinical trial matching and clinician preparation ahead of patient visits.

Under the partnership, Atropos’ real-world evidence and clinical decision-support tools will be embedded into Health Universe’s platform. The integration is intended to provide clinicians with evidence-based, patient-specific answers to clinical questions within the workflows they already use.

Dr. Doug Fridsma, chief medical and science officer at Health Universe and former chief science officer at the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT, said the integration also addresses the need for transparency and governance as healthcare organizations adopt AI.

He said clinicians need infrastructure that can provide trusted, evidence-based insights while making it possible to understand how AI agents operate within clinical workflows.

Health Universe raised $6 million in seed funding earlier this year in a round led by Kleiner Perkins, bringing its total funding to $9.5 million. The company said the funding would support workforce and sales expansion, deeper integration with oncology and clinical research, and broader deployment of its AI agent infrastructure across healthcare and life sciences.

Atropos Health has established partnerships with organizations including Novartis, Databricks, Ontada, Emory Healthcare, xCures and Merck.

The company raised $33 million in Series B funding in 2024, following a $14 million Series A round in 2022. Atropos has also expanded its integration with Microsoft Teams to provide care teams with real-time, patient-specific insights during Teams meetings.
