Atlantic Health, K Health Launch PatientGPT Integrated With MyChart
The platform allows patients to ask health questions in everyday language and receive responses informed by relevant information from their medical records.
Atlantic Health and K Health have launched Atlantic Health PatientGPT, a clinical AI tool integrated with the health system’s electronic health record (EHR) and MyChart patient portal. The platform allows patients to ask health questions in everyday language and receive responses informed by relevant information from their medical records.
PatientGPT is also designed to help patients determine the appropriate level of care. When clinical evaluation is needed, the platform can connect users with Atlantic Health clinicians, including through the health system’s Virtual Primary Care service.
Information shared during a PatientGPT interaction can carry into the virtual care experience, allowing patients to move from asking a health question to consulting a clinician without having to repeat the information they have already provided.
The companies said PatientGPT and virtual care services together provide a digital access point for health information, care navigation and clinical services. Allon Bloch, cofounder and CEO of K Health, said the platform provides answers based on a patient’s medical history within a healthcare system they already use.
PatientGPT is launching in beta and will be gradually made available to users across New Jersey over the next several months. The companies said the technology is intended to support patient participation in care rather than replace physician-led clinical care.
K Health provides AI-enabled primary care through virtual and in-person services and is expanding into specialties including endocrinology and cardiology. The company said its clinical AI technology has supported more than four million patient visits.
Atlantic Health operates more than 550 care sites, including eight hospitals, across New Jersey, Pennsylvania and the New York metropolitan area.
The launch comes amid growing adoption of patient-facing AI tools that use electronic medical records and other health data to provide personalized information. Recent initiatives include AI-enabled health assistants from Amazon and OpenAI, while b.well has partnered with technology and healthcare companies to enable access to medical records within consumer health platforms.
Atlantic Health has also expanded its use of AI for patient communication. In April, the health system partnered with Artera to deploy multilingual AI agents for colonoscopy-related outreach, preparation guidance, and responses to health system-approved questions.
