Apollo Athenaa Launches India’s First Integrated Gynae-Oncology & Robotic Surgery Ecosystem

The new initiative brings together early detection, precision diagnostics, robotic-assisted surgery, and post-treatment support within a single coordinated care framework.

Apollo Athenaa, a dedicated women’s cancer care center under the Apollo Hospitals Group, has launched India’s first fully integrated Gynae-Oncology and Robotic Surgery ecosystem aimed at enhancing access to specialized cancer care for women.

The new initiative brings together early detection, precision diagnostics, robotic-assisted surgery, and post-treatment support within a single coordinated care framework.

As per reports, Gynaecological cancers remain a significant public health challenge in India, with over 1.7 lakh new cases of female genital cancers annually, with a substantial mortality burden.

Further, access to specialised, integrated care remains limited, treatment pathways are often fragmented across multiple providers, and early-stage specialist intervention continues to be out of reach for a large proportion of patients.

The newly launched ecosystem aims to bridge this gap by integrating multiple stages of cancer care while enabling end-to-end care under one single system.

It combines screening, precision diagnostics, robotic and minimally invasive surgical procedures, fertility-preserving treatments, and rehabilitation support within a unified platform.

The integrated approach is expected to reduce delays in treatment and improve coordinated care among specialists while enhancing patient outcomes.

Further, by bringing multidisciplinary expertise into every stage of the patient journey, the initiative seeks to ensure continuity of care and address the shortage of integrated, gender-specific cancer centers in India.

Commenting on the new initiative, Dr Preetha Reddy, Executive Vice Chairperson, Apollo Hospitals Group, said, “At the heart of this advancement is a significant strengthening of our clinical depth, bringing together a superlative team of specialists with global expertise and high-volume surgical experience. Their integration into a single, coordinated ecosystem enables a level of precision, consistency, and clinical excellence that was previously difficult to achieve.”

Furthermore, as part of the initiative, Apollo Athenaa has strengthened its clinical and surgical capabilities by onboarding gynae-oncology specialists, including Dr. Rupinder Sekhon as Principal Lead, Gynae-oncology and Robotic Surgery, and Dr. Amita Naithani as Senior Consultant, Gynae-oncology and Robotic Surgery.
